Jim makes his debut in episode 106 in the anime as a foreign student
(Hailing from the Duel Academy South School*) who has come to the main
Duel Academy at the start of the year. In the Japanese version, Jim
frequently speaks in Engrish, including phrases such as; "WHAT!?",
"Sorry! Sorry!", "Are you okay!?", "INCREDIBLE!" as well as also giving
nicknames to Asuka and Kenzan as "Tomorrow Girl" and "Dino Boy".
Obviously hailing from Australia, Jim appears to be based on Australians
such as Crocodile Dundee and as some fans like to believe, Steve Irwin.
Jim's name originates from the protagonist in "Crocodile Dundee"
(*Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee"*) and a South Australian Train Station
named "Cook".
Jim is never seen without Karen, a crocodile he carries in a special
backpack on his back. If something upsets Karen or gets her angry, it
appears Jim is the only one who knows how to calm her down and he always
seems to know exactly what she's thinking. If a wild animal apposes Jim,
he uses Karen who is more than happy to scare the animal away. He also
considers Karen not to be a pet, but more as family. Jim is very much a
nature man who knows a lot about Geology and Archeology.
Usually Jim is seen as quite an upbeat and happy guy who can provide
useful information about Geology or Archeology when needed, he also
always seems up for a challenge. Not much is currently known about his
